The EP was a short collection of the band’s initial cache of brilliant UK singles, including one of my all-time favorites, “Long Hot Summer.” The other album apparently was a re-working, much like was the American record companies used to do to Sixties English bands like the Beatles and Stones, of The Style Council’s UK album Bleu Cafe along with a sprinkling of singles from the homeland and repackaged here as My Ever Changing Moods. Since my mind has near-eidetic capabilities, I remembered that article from the previous summer and bought the first two stateside releases by Paul Weller’s new band, the debut EP Introducing The Style Council and the band’s first US long player entitled My Ever Changing Moods. Boy, those were the days!Īnyway, one day during the winter of that junior year, I saw two albums by The Style Council on display at the Den. And, since I worked during college, I was able to live comfortably while getting a couple albums a week from either the Den or the Used Record Shop. Honestly, the only things I ever really purchased at the Den were albums, since they sold them for $3 to $5 off the list price of $10, which is quite a savings for a college student. Just the prior year, the nearby shopping area called The Village had a new general store move in called Discount Den. So, after the summer in Wisconsin ended, I headed back to Ball State University for my junior year. Since the article mentioned that the mods loved old soul and R&B hits from the US, including my beloved Motown music, I knew that I had to check out The Style Council. The only difference was their were new bands whose music was being played at these dances, including the later music of The Jam and the new Paul Weller group The Style Council. One day, during the summer of 1983 while working and living in Southern Wisconsin at a resort, I bought a music magazine in nearby Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, in which was an article about a new mod scene that was popping up as a second generation took to the music and clothing style beloved by the original mods in the Sixties. Well, remember, I was a fan of The Jam and specifically their lead singer and creative visionary Paul Weller. How in the heck can a man who grew up in Central Indiana, spent four short years in Southwestern Ohio, then moved back to his hometown, the one in which our said hero claimed to which he would never return, to raise his family, ever hear of the UK-centric and generally altogether European artist The Style Council? Many of you will be scratching your heads at that statement. I am just going to say it: The Style Council is rock’s most underrated band of all-time. ![]() “It lines up with the reality and it lines up with what I’ve heard, where Mortal Kombat 12 would make the most sense because that’s a game they know will make money, it will sell well… Mortal Kombat 11 was great, it’s doing well, but if you come out with Mortal Kombat 12 it will also sell and do well,” Grubb said. Speaking on the Giant Bomb podcast, Grubb suggested that the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Warner Brothers Games, and the Merger with Discovery, led to NetherRealm changing projects or potentially abandoning any hope of working on an Injustice 3 project. However, according to VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb that could be about to change. As we’ve touched on before, that’s partly to do with NetherRealm’s pattern of flipping between each series. NetherRealm has refused to comment on the post, so we’ll just have to wait for an announcement from the studio.Ģ1 August 2021 – Many fans would rightly have assumed that the next project after Mortal Kombat 11 would be a new entry in the Injustice series. Whilst we do know that NeatherRealm Studios have been working on a new project since July 2021 – when the dev announced they were ending support for Mortal Kombat 11 – it’s still not entirely clear what this “next project” is. It goes without saying that there’s clearly an appetite for another entry in the Warner Bros DC Comics brawler, and there are certainly a lot of storylines yet to be resolved from the end of Injustice 2. Finally, they submerged his regime and contained Superman and his allies, Damian and Cyborg included. Will NetherRealm Studios make Injustice 3? This is arguably one of the big questions currently being asked by the fighting game community right now, with many fans unsure on the state of the game in the midst of the Warner Bros Discovery merger. When installed on a bunch of Mustang V6 models, the comparison between the three tires was made simpler. If I’m honest, I was quite surprised at the capabilities of all three tires, but the BFG was a head-and-shoulders winner in this test as well. I’ve never really had the opportunity to experiment with wet-weather handling before, so this was probably the best part of the day for me. In this test, the Comp 2 was compared directly with Yokohama’s AVID ENVigor and General Tire’s G-Max A/S 03. I realize that space and time constraints make that difficult, but it would have been closer to ideal. This one was only about a 20 second sprint, where I like a nice long 60-second course or so. It’s not a terrible way to test tires, as it allowed us to drive the same course back-to-back with the competition, but if I’m honest I would have liked a slightly longer course. The course consisted of a short slow slalom that led into a medium speed sweeper with a lane-change style chicane at the end. The second test I subjected the tires to was a wet miniature autocross course. That’s the difference that could save you from burying your front bumper into the stationary car in front of you. Between everyone at the test, the BFG stopped an average of 8.5 feet shorter in the wet and 13 feet shorter in the dry. Stopping shorter in dry or wet conditions means that the BF Goodrich car could actually save you a ton of money in bodywork repair by stopping earlier than the same car on the competition’s tires. In comparison with the Hankook Ventus Noble s1, the g-force Comp 2 A/S felt much grippier, which was corroborated by the in-car mounted Vbox data acquisition boxes, showing consistently shorter stops in the BFG shod cars. From 50 miles per hour on this car, the tires gripped well in both wet and dry conditions. In test #1, we were put in the driver’s seat of some brand new Audi A5 coupes to test the straight line braking capabilities of the tires. In every test, the BFG outperformed the other tires. There were four different tests that we were given the opportunity to back-to-back test between the Comp 2 and the competitors wet/dry straight line braking distance, wet handling course, dry handling course, and highway noise. The car choice was a bit underwhelming, but the tires proved to work pretty well, especially in comparison with the similarly priced performance all season competition. But, for those three seasons, it seems to be pretty darned good at it’s job.ĭuring the testing regimen, unfortunately, we were not given any nice new Porsches to drive around, and in fact, we were stuck in a bunch of different cars that were all automatics. In fewer words, this is designed more as a three season tire than a four season tire. M+S rated tires are not proper snow tires.). That’s not to say that this tire is garbage in the winter, but if you live in a northern climate that gets more than a few inches of snow per year, you should probably have a dedicated set of snow and ice tires anyhow (designated with a ‘three peak mountain – snowflake’ design on the sidewall’. This tire has had to compromise a bit of snow performance in order to increase it’s dry and wet traction and lateral grip. So how is this one any different?īF Goodrich has rated this tire as an all season, but they don’t pull any punches about it working through a heavy snow winter. I’ve always said that All-Season tires should really be called No-Season tires, because in my mind they’ve always been the ‘Jack of all trades’ tire, while mastering none. ![]() I’ve always been a seasonal tire buyer, believing whole-heartedly in the concept of summer and winter tires existing separately. When BF Goodrich told me that they had a new performance all season, I immediately questioned whether such a thing were actually possible. You should know up front that I take tires and tire technology quite seriously. So how does this relate to ? Well, we’re going to investigate whether this tire could or should be your choice for your Porsche’s next set. It was a very fun trip, and I was honored to be there. They also had a full day of car and tire testing activities. In the interest of full disclosure, BFG payed for me to fly to Phoenix, put me up in a very nice room at a very nice hotel, and gave me as much food and drink as I could ever want (BFG is owned by sponsor Michelin). A few weeks ago, I was invited to represent at the launch of a brand new ‘performance all season’ tire from BF Goodrich in Phoenix, AZ. ![]() Each faction has a heroic unit, each accompanied by their very own pet. To cheer yourself up, you can watch a bear fight a mech. The level of destruction is as impressive as it is grim. Thanks to mortars, tank shells and mechs that can walk right through buildings, expect little to remain standing. When the dust settles after a big fight, you'll hardly recognise the area. There are plenty of them, from little exosuits to massive, smoke-spewing behemoths, and they're all a lot of fun to play with and, crucially, blow up. Set in an alternate 1920's Europe, factions duke it out with squishy soldiers, tanks and, the headline attraction, clunky steampunk mechs. If you played Company of Heroes and thought "What this really needs is some giant mechs", Iron Harvest (opens in new tab) might be the RTS for you. Since launch, it's also benefited from some great DLC, including a new format that introduces historical bookmarks that expand on different events from the era. The fight over China also makes for a compelling campaign, blessed with a kind of dynamism that we've not seen in a Total War before. It feels like a leap for the series in the same way the first Rome did, bringing with it some fundemental changes to how diplomacy, trade and combat works. Each is part of a complicated web of relationships that affects everything from diplomacy to performance in battle, and like their Warhammer counterparts they're all superhuman warriors. Total War: Three Kingdoms (opens in new tab), the latest historical entry in the series, takes a few nods from Warhammer, which you'll find elsewhere in this list, giving us a sprawling Chinese civil war that's fuelled by its distinct characters, both off and on the battlefield. You can meander through life without any great plan and still find yourself embroiled in countless intrigues, wars and trysts. And all this soapy dynastic drama just has a brilliant flow to it, carrying you along with it. Getting to grips with it is thankfully considerably easier this time around, thanks to a helpful nested tooltip system and plenty of guidance. It's only going to get larger and more ambitious as the inevitable DLC piles up, but even in its vanilla form CK3 is a ceaseless storyteller supported by countless complex systems that demand to be mucked around with and tweaked. At first glance it might seem a bit too familiar, but an even greater focus on roleplaying and simulating the lifestyles of medieval nobles, along with a big bag of new and reconsidered features, makes it well worth jumping ship to the latest iteration. It's a huge grand strategy RPG, more polished and cohesive than the venerable CK2, and quite a bit easier on the eyes, too. There's plenty to keep you occupied, and more on the horizon, with the Immortal Empires mega-campaign that combines all three games into one big brawl on its way.Ĭrusader Kings 3, the best strategy game of 2020, has usurped its predecessor's spot on the list, unsurprisingly. The Chaos factions in particular are a monstrous delight, especially the Daemons of Chaos, which not only lets you recruit units from every daemonic faction, you even get a fully customisable leader with limbs that you can mix and match. The real treat, though, is the list of factions. It's an impressive campaign, though the narrative elements and Realm of Chaos jaunts make it a bit more linear than most. Total War: Warhammer 3 (opens in new tab), the conclusion to Creative Assembly's Warhammer trilogy, is also its strangest and most experimental, letting players leave the traditional Total War sandbox every 30 or so turns to journey through the Realm of Chaos, where the domains of the Chaos gods exist, culminating in huge survival battles that draw from tower defence games, with fortifications, in-battle recruitment and waves of enemies. ![]() In a Lamb story, honor and loyalty to one's comrades-in-arms were more important than cultural identity, although often his protagonists ended up risking their lives to protect the cultures that had spurned them. It’s hard not to get a good pump and cause some muscle damage when you have a tough intense workout with a lot of tension on your muscles across a lot of difficult sets. So they’re probably less drivers and more like soreness, they happen along with the muscle growth. But in my interpretation they’re mostly concurrent byproducts of having done volume of tough sets and mechanical tension well. Muscle damage and metabolic stress may themselves directly contribute to building muscle. Push the intensity once you’ve nailed down the big basics while staying within what you can recover from. You need to bring intensity to your workouts to build muscle beyond that of your every day gym guy or girl. It falls a little for muscle growth but still matters. Training intensity moves higher on the list when we start talking about training for strength. So get your form right and ensure you build in enough recovery to avoid accumulating wear and tear. Meanwhile not getting hurt might be the most important long term factor in progress. Lockouts and rest between reps can allow greater overall tension and training volume. Not to be confused with “constant tension” which doesn’t matter. Within those tough sets, try to accumulate mechanical tension. Train close to your maximum recoverable volume(for more on this get into vast library of videos and articles on training volume). This doesn’t mean past failure on each set(this will accumulate fatigue faster than training effect) but coming within a rep or 2 of strict form failure on tour working sets and taking some past failure should drive great progress. Focus on the volume of tough sets you perform. ![]() But we’re pretty close.įor most lifters a few priorities will maximize your progress for building muscle.
